• FOR: Compensating direct costs of girl education to all levels especially for such girls who happen to be the only girl child in their family. The objectives of the proposed scheme of the UGC are to support post-graduate education of single girl child in nonprofessional courses only. The value of scholarship is Rs 2,000 per month for a period of two years only (10 months in the year). No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges etc.
• WHO CAN APPLY? (i) Any single girl child of her parents (ii) The scheme is applicable to such a single girl child who has taken admission in regular, full-time first year master's degree course in any recognised university or a postgraduate college (iii) This scholarship is available to post-graduate student only (iv) Girl students up to the age of 30 years at the time of admission in post-graduate courses are eligible.
